Mary on Her Own

Dear readers,

The book that I'm Reading is called Mary own her own it's about a girl that goes off to a blinds college called Iowa college for the blind. She became blind from scarlet fever because it reached her eyes. In the book she has many trump times that are hard for her like staying at the college for winter and not going home, another time is when she was lost because a student left her in the rain but then the student got sent home. She also had many good times though like meeting all new people and great friends and having a education even though shes blind.

In this book I learned that anyone can go to school and accomplish anything. I think that this book was very great and inspiring. If I was Mary I would defiantly not be as calm as she was during her life when she was blind because without sight you can't do as much and have as much fun in things. This book was very inspiring to me you should read it sometime.

On the Shores of Silver Lake

Dear readers,

On the shores of silver lake by Laura Ingalls wilder is about a girl, named Laura because this book is about the writers life. She has three sisters, Mary(the oldest and blind), Carrie (about 7), and grace (younger then Carrie about 2), and also ma and pa. They have all been sick except for Laura and pa. that's how Mary turned blind. One day aunt Docia came she had drove all the way from Wisconsin to the rail road camps in Dakota territory. She came to see if pa would go with her. Her husband, uncle hi, wanted a good storekeeper, bookkeeper, and timekeeper and pa could have the job. It payed 50 dollars a month she said. (and that was a lot for back then). But they were all sick. So pa just went and they stayed till they were all better. When they were all better they went on the train for the very first time. When they got to the railroad makings they stayed in a little shack. Pa worked the store until the railroad was done. After all the workers left they got to live in the surveyors house because the surveyor moved on to mark another piece of land. And that's all I've read so far but its still a really good book.

I think the authors purpose was to talk about her life when she was growing up and how you can have adventures any time you lived. One of the authors word choices where "at sunset the whole large lake was covered with birds of all kinds speaking in every kind of birds voice to each other before they went to sleep on a nights rest on their long journey from north to south." This is the 5 book out of the whole series which is like 10 or 9 books. i think its really good and imaginative on how it would be like growing up in the 1800's.

relaxation: this makes me feel happy for her because business is better.

opinion: i think this book is really good, i don't know why.

prediction:i predict that if there was a second one it would be about how the pharmacy is after getting the spa?

question: i wonder if she will make another book?

visualization: i can imagine her putting make-up on someone in the relaxation room.

Down Syndrome

Dear class and Ms. English,

I am reading a book called Down Syndrome by Marlene Targ Brill. It talks about how they look if they have DS (down syndrome). They have almond shaped eyes, and other looks. They learn in a slower pace. People are still studying DS and how people get it. But they still go to school and work like people not with disabilities.

This reminds me of my aunt. She has Down Syndrome. And she works to help the community by packing fork's and spoons in a package. She's one of my best Friends in the whole world. I also had a question which i didn't know why they have almond shaped eyes and other looks? This book made me feel sad that the people with DS had to learn in a slower pace. I think that this book is very interresting.

The city of ember

Hi,

I'm reading a book called The City of Ember by jeanne duprau. Its about a city underground. The only light they have is light bulbs since they live under ground. I just started the book so I don't know much about he book yet but I have seen the movie. Any ways lets get back to the book, so far in the book their is these two people, Lina and Doon. They want to try to help the city but the don't know how. But the thing is they know that everything is running out so soon the won't have anything. Their trying to find a way to help the city.

Here's some of my crop qv letters.. I thought how it would feel like to be underground and how dark it would be. This reminds me of how we buried my brother in sand at the beach and how he must have felt! This make me feel like I'm under ground myself! I think later they will find this box that will help them to finding a way to go back to earths surface. I wonder if that's what really will happen!

My Mom and Other Mysteries of the Universe

dear class,

I am reading My Mom and Other Mysteries of the Universe. Arlie and her mom doesn't see the same way. Her mom and dad go on a business trip. Arlie and her brother are staying at there aunt's house. Soon after they stay there their mom and dad get in a car accident. Her dad has only some cuts but her mom i in a coma!On the same day Arlie has a new student in her class named Casey. Everything about Casey is the same with her mother. About a month later her class is having a play at leisure valley (a retirement home) and also their school. After that they go see her mom and dad! her mom is out of a coma and her dad is all better. When they get back to the hotel her aunt frowned a box from the mail for Arlie. It was from Casey!

I liked how the story ended. Because its very sweet when her mom says very nice things to Arlie. I visualized Arlie opening the box from Casey. In my head I thought how Arlie was opening the present and how it looked. I wonder if her mom changed the way she thought of Arlie and acted way nicer. This makes me feel really happy that her mom could have changed. This reminds me of when I saw a really bad car accident on the road. I think Arlie's mom will change.

Eating the India Way

This book is very cool because the foods they eat are way different from the way we eat. Since most India people are vegetarians they don't eat much meat. Most of the foods in the cook book deserts and different puddings. Their bread does not have yeast so it's flat (it is so good).

I think they shouldn't have put all those puddings in the book. Especially since there fruit pudding's. Disgusting(i think). I also think all there are to many nuts in there foods. I like looking at different foods around the world because they could have completely different foods! This book is very cool.

My mom and Other Mysteries of the Universe

Dear classmates,

I am reading a book called My Mom and Other Mysteries of the Universe. Arlie thinks her mom doesn't love her because she's always telling her what to do. Her parents are going on a business trip for two months. She's staying at her aunt's house for a month. Then one day theirs a new kid in her class. Her name is Casey lane reversed it's Lasey Cane. Arlie's moms name is Lacey Caine! On that day her parent's are in a car accident! Her dad's fine but her mother's in a coma!

When I was reading this book I had a few questions. I wonder why only her mom got seriously injured? Why does her new classmate look, act, and has similar relatives? When I was reading I had an reaction. I would not want to be Arlie wright now. This book is very captivating too. I can't wait to see what happens next.

My Mom and Other Mysteries of the Universe

Arlie thinks her mother's always bossing her around. Her mother thinks she needs to have more effort in everything. Her parents are going on a business trip. So she going to one of her relatives. Basically that's all I've read so far because I just started it.

I like the book because very interesting and I want to know what will happen next. I predict that she will see her mom in a whole different way. After she sees her mom in a whole different way she will obey her more. This is a very good book because she learns to like her mom better and know that her mom loves her. I would be very sad if I thought my mom didn't love me.

Being Bee

Dear class and Ms. English,

I am reading Being Bee(short for beatrice). It was so good that I've finished it. It's about a girl named bee who's mom died. And her dad has a girl friendnamed jazzi. Bee hates her. Then Jazzi throse out her bee box. It had stuff that her mom gave her. Then she runs away. She goes to Jazzis handycaped brother. Then he said that he ran away one time. It was a tradidy. So she changed her mined. She was walking back home while Jazzi came driving to her and got all the bee stuff back.

When I was reading I had some quations. Why did she not like jazzi? How did Jazzi's handycaped brother become handycaped? I also had a conation when I thought my parents were wrong about things. My feeling's about this book is that it's a good book and realats to most people today.I hope you can read it.
